Sunday school is now held before the Holy Communion service in which the classes are followed by common session for children to have fellowship, singing and offertory collection. Every month there is a theme on character and behaviour and children are encouraged to follow these in their everyday life.

Our students appear for the regional annual Sunday school exams held across all churches in the UK and we congratulate all our students for their efforts in doing their best and being successful.

Sevika Sangham

The women in the Mar Thoma church also shared the spiritual power generated by the Reformation. The Mar Thoma Suvisesha Sevika Sanghom the women’s wing, was inaugurated during the Maramon Convention in the year 1919, under the leadership of Abraham Mar Thoma Suffragan Metropolitan., who gave the Sanghom continued support and inspiration.

Every women of the Mar Thoma Church above the age of 18 years is a member of the Sevika sanghom. The Sevika Sanghom has branches in all parishes of the Mar Thoma Church both in India and abroad. Each branch elects from among its members a committee including office bearers. The Vicar of the parish is the President of the branch Sevika Sanghom, who gives guidence and support to the activities. . A few branches are grouped together to form a centre and a few centres together constitute a Diocese. The Sevika Sanghom follows the pattern of the Mar Thoma Church in the organizational matters.

Sevika Sangham continue to fulfil their role of helping in all spheres of our church life and upholding the various needs of church and all its individuals in prayers. There has been active and enthusiastic participation and support from all members in the various events we had.

We hold Parish Sevika Sangham day each year which includes inspirational messages delivered by our members. Harvest festival is yet another blessed day when food stalls are organised to support the event. Despite hectic schedules all members contribute and participate in making the activities a success. This year ‘Little Drops’ collection was also a success and we are in the process of making arrangements for allocating it for charity purpose.

Sevika Sangam members are praying for ‘People in need’ at their own houses on the 1st Friday of every month.

‘Manna’ (packed meals): The Sevikasangham has started a new initiative of bringing number of ‘pothichoru’ to be auctioned in church once in every month. Sevikasangham members voluntarily prepare these packets. This fundraising event goes towards our Church Development Fund.

Edavaka Mission

The spiritual renewal in the Church, which was the offspring of reformation has created a yearning in believers to present the Gospel to others. It was realized that this could not be fully achieved by the services of a few full time evangelists. On the other hand every member of the Church should be a missionary filled with such joy and assurance of salvation as to be Christ’s witness to those who come into contact with him, irrespective of one’s profession in secular life. Such people have the opportunity to come into contact with others in ordinary human situations and to communicate the Gospel message in a natural setting.

Believers interested in evangelistic and intercessory activities used to assemble periodically for prayer and fellowship. It was in the annual meeting of such a gathering in 1924, the present Mar Thoma Voluntary Evangelists’ Association got formed. Bishop Abraham Mar Thoma was the ardent supporter of this movement and Titus II Mar Thoma Metropolitan sent a circular to all parishes encouraging the formation of branches of the Association. Rev. C. P. Philipose Kassisa was the first president, Sadhu Kochu Kunju the secretary and Kolakottu John Upadesi the traveling secretary.

The object of this association is that every member of the Church should be a witness to Jesus Christ, whatever his occupation may be. Those who volunteer to be members of the Association meet together in each parish at least once a week for fellowship, intercessory prayer, Bible study and sharing experiences. Then they go out and contact those who work with them and share the Gospel. They help with various services in the parish, such as the Sunday school, youth fellowships, and cottage prayer meetings. They visit the sick and the needy and give spiritual fellowship and material help to them. They work for reconciliation where people are estranged form one another. They also seek opportunity to convey the message of the Gospel to non-Christian friends.

The Annual convention was organised by the Edavaka Mission from 24th  to 26th February 2017. On 24th February the convention was organized by Burton, Derby, Nottingham area and on 25th February it was by Stafford, Walsall, Wolverhampton area. The Convention ended on Sunday the 26th February 2017 at Hobs Moat Church with Holy Communion Service. Mr. Isaac Samuel from St. Thomas MTC, Bristol, delivered challenging, yet encouraging message through out.
